Volunteering at Kelburn
Volunteering at Kelburn has a long history. The Ranger Service has been working with volunteers since 1977 when the Country Centre opened.
Over the last eight years volunteer involvement at Kelburn has increased and diversified. The Ranger Service have coordinated, supervised and developed:
- Adult Volunteer placements
- Secondary School Student Work Experience Placements
- Animal Care college work placements (Byrony College, Scottish Agricultural College)
- Glen Conservation Project Weeks (Scottish Agricultural College)
- Full and part time winter / summer Volunteer Ranger Placements
- An “Adopt a Glen Footpath” Project
- General Estate Volunteer Programme
- Garden Volunteer Programme
- Activities of Volunteers assisting with displays, interpretation and events
- Glen Footpath Conservation tasks for youth organisations (Boys Brigade, Princess Trust)
- John Muir Award Scheme
