Featuring the Graffiti Art project on Kelburn Castle this trail will involve pupils and teachers in learning more about Art in the Environment. Along the trail children will also be able to complete their own Graffiti and Environmental Art Project.
Fifteen bird and animal sculptures now stand as signposts to guide you along Kelburn’s Natural History Trail, a forty minute walk through the romantic Glen. The fascinating sculptures have been specially made for Kelburn by renowned Ayrshire sculptor, Alan Lees.
Learn about Kelburn’s history by following a trail of informative signs, that take you round the castle, past the Glen and through into the gardens. A special leaflet on Kelburn’s history compliments and adds to the information on the signs, and can be bought for 30p.
Teachers can lead school children around the above trails without the
assistance of a guide or ranger. In some places there are steps or steep
parts, so regrettably they are unsuitable for wheelchairs. The Natural
History Trail is ideal for all ages, the History Trail is recommended
to the over tens.
