Meet Gemma, our Events Manager

Gemma’s been in Catering & Hospitality for over 13 years, running Weddings and Events at numerous different venues. As time went on Gemma focused her energy into her passion, which was running weddings. She loves getting to know our couples and helping them bring their day to life!

What do you like about working at Kelburn?

“Kelburn is such a unique venue with so many different options available. I have worked in many high end hotels and venues throughout my career. The one thing that makes Kelburn stand out is that every single wedding is different. Each one is so personal and unique to the couple, and that is exactly what I love about Kelburn. A place like no other.”

Tell us about the team at Kelburn

“Kelburn has such a close-knit team, that always comes together to make it a success. M colleague, Louise Martin, and I work closely with everyone in the wider team. They are so passionate about what they do and that’s what makes it such a nice place to work.”

Talk us through a ‘normal day’ at Kelburn

“What is a ‘normal’ day? At Kelburn we have such a variety of activities that no one day is the same. One day can be in the office working on admin, organising show rounds for potential clients or having catch up meeting with our lovely couples. The day before a wedding or event we are always in, setting up. On a wedding day we are in from open to close and like to personally ensure that each part of the day runs smoothly, right up until the last dance. On other days throughout the year, we can be in Elf costumes, running through the woods scaring the public (for Halloween, of course!), and many many other activities.”

Challenges of the job?

“Challenges will always be logistical, with Kelburn being such a large venue and having so many event ready areas. It will always be challenging ensuring that events go smoothly, when going from one area to another. There are so many aspects of the event that need to be well planned out. It can take the full team to coordinate.”

Best things about the job?

“Hands down this will always be the people. The people we work with, and the couples and clients we meet. There honestly is no better place.”

Best thing you’ve ever done at Kelburn?

“Creating and running Charlie’s Chocolate Factory, and organising dinners for A-List Celebrities.”

“100% Kelburn is a place like no other, and you will not find somewhere else as memorable for you and your guests!”
