Explore over 800 years of fascinating Kelburn history.

Home to the Earl of Glasgow, Chief of Clan Boyle, Kelburn Castle is Scotland’s oldest castle to be continually inhabited by one family. Be guided back through history from the castle’s contemporary graffiti artwork to it’s origins in the 1200’s and the history of the De Boyvillles dating back to 1066.

The tours last approximately 1 hour and cover the castle architecture, castle & estate history and history of the Boyle family.

Please note as the castle is a historic building it has many original unchanged features including staircases. Unfortunately this means the castle tours are unsuitable for wheelchair users, walkers, prams or buggies. We ask that all children are closely supervised at all times (not suitable for under 4yrs). The tours begin and spend about 15 minutes outdoors so please dress appropriately for the weather.

Please arrive in good time ahead of your tour and check in at the Information Centre. Please note that there are no toilets beyond the Visitor Centre.
